Don’t be fooled by it’s cute exterior, under the hood lives a pretty capable device with all kinds of wireless communication such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS/GLONASS. With the touch of the SOS button (it’s for kids, don’t forget) the device sends the position of your child along with seven seconds of voice recording.

You can see the time and it is equipped with 300mAh battery, good enough for up to six days of usage. It comes preloaded with a prepaid SIM card to handle quick voice calls as well.

Made fully out of plastic to reduce weight and handle scratches when kids play and is fashioned with silicone straps. It is available in blue and pink and weighs 37 grams.

It’s compatible with Android phones that run Android 4.2 and higher. At the May 10 event, the company is going to introduce another wearable, the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, which comes with an LCD display and other updates to what has been a successful activity and sleep-tracking formula.

The Mi Bunny is on sale globally for 299 Yuan ($59).

Schlechte Nachrichten:
Today evening, Huami CEO, Huang Wang, revealed via his weibo account that the mass production of the Mi Band 2 was facing problems. This meant that the company couldn’t manufacture the new band in large quantities which is a must for a product like this. Xiaomi’s products are highly popular in China, so in the absence of the availability of stock in large quantities, online sales would be a disaster.

Even Xiaomi’s CEO has confirmed the delay in the release of the new Mi Band 2. He revealed via his Weibo account that increasing the production of the Mi Band 2 wearable was difficult at the moment, which is why he estimates that the new band will be released around a month later.

Dafür kommt ein Bluetooth Lautsprecher:

Today’s leak reveals that the smart band will be able to display the battery left in percentage, steps taken, speed, heart rate and time through its screen. So, you no longer have to check your smartphone app for these details.

While we aren’t sure whether this is the final version of the new band or an engineering prototype, it is said that Xiaomi will keep its price cheap.

Since the company is facing production issues with the new Mi Band version, we are not quite sure whether we will hear anything about the device at today’s conference.

To remind you, Xiaomi will announce the Max phablet and the MIUI 8 OS at the event today in China.
