Flashing, new apps, or learning chinese?

So, I just recently got my hands on a new pinphone 3g, but unfortunately some of the applications on it are only in chinese.

Now i don't mind the rest of them, but i'd really like to have an english messenger application. So what are my options?

My phone is running 1835ng_CHN_CA_W_NL_v1_1_7, will buying a flash cable and flashing the entire firmware fix it? If so, what other kind of changes would it make? What firmware would you guys recommend?

Or is it possible to install a free 3rd party messenger application on pinphone?

You can install every messenger you like if there is a java client for this available.

A reflash will not fix this problem.

Thanks for the help, I finally got ebuddy installed after some trial and error and it's working ok.


However, I found another flaw with the phone, when you are making a phone call the screen becomes unresponsive. I can't end the calls without the reciever ending it first (in which case the phone kills the connection on it's own after some time, as most mobiles do),so if I accidentally call a wrong number i can't hang up. I get the call screen, but I can't push any of the buttons on it.

The other on screen options are unresponsive aswell (mute, small keyboard, h-free, etc.)

Any ideas on how to fix this one?

You need to move the little blue cycle to the button you want to click.

Calls can be ended with the power button, too.
